Apart from a biography of the pop group Duran Duran and a collection of "bad quotes from sc–fi novels, movies, and advertisements" (which he co–edited), Neil Gaiman's first published work was Don't Panic: The Official Hitch–Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy Handbook (1988). (Later editions were subtitled Douglas Adams and the Hitch–Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy).
He also collaborated with Terry Pratchett on Good Omens (1990).
